We will still go out in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. If the weather is severe and we have to cancel, you can reschedule for another trip or receive a credit for a future event. If it’s a rainy day, please dress appropriately.
-
Yes, you can, and there is a reduced price ticket for those that just want to ride along.
-
Yes, children are allowed to join us. We recommend that children be at least 6 years of age, and please keep in mind that our trips are long and parents who know their children best and should determine whether it is appropriate for their child.
-
We do not put any limitations on who may or may not attend, however, pregnant women may want to consult with their doctor before participating to make sure this activity is appropriate for them.
-
Please arrive at least 1 hour early to check-in and secure your equipment. The boat will leave promptly and can not wait for late arrivals.
-
Rescheduling allowed with a minimum of a week’s notice prior to your trip date. We will still go out in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. If the weather is severe and the Captain decides to cancel, you can reschedule to another trip or receive a credit for a future event or receive a refund. QUESTIONS ABOUT FISHING, LIMITS & TRIP DETAILS
-
Oh sure, nothing like a new experience! Our crew will assist you and, oftentimes, some of the “seasoned” veterans are happy to instruct.
-
You can keep as many fish as are allowed by the state regulations and limits. Your captain and crew are up to date on the most recent limit details and will update everyone with this information at the start of the trip. Regulations vary depending on the season and what we are fishing for on a particular day.
-
It all depends on what type of fish are in season. Our typical catches include fluke, sea bass, red hake, and small bluefish.
-
We typically use spearing or squid strips but on other occasions, we’ll use what’s available and working best for catching fish.
-
Generally, we typically fish about 1 – 6 miles from our inlet depending where the fish are biting.
-
Since there are multiple species of fish to catch at all times, if we catch our limit of one species, we continue fishing for others. We will instruct you on board.
-
No, it is illegal to sell the fish you catch without proper licensing. If you decide not to keep any of the fish you catch, you can either release them or give them to a crew member who will release or distribute to someone who has not caught a fish.
-
Our crew will gladly clean and bag any fish you catch for you to take home for a gratuity.
-
We can guarantee fishing but unfortunately, not catching. The captain will do everything in his power to put you where the fish are, but we cannot control what does or does not bite the hook.
FISHING EQUIPMENT/LICENSES
-
No, we have a license that enables us to take out our passengers for the whole year! You will not need to get your own license in order to participate.
-
A standard rod and reel rental are available upon purchasing your tickets for a small fee, but we have everything else you’ll need, including bait and tackle.
-
Feel free to bring your own gear. We recommend 20 – 30 lb rod and reel class.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING
-
Coolers or ice chests are permitted onboard and can be used to store food and drink or your fish.
-
Sure! There will be food and drink available for sale onboard, but feel free to bring your own with you if you’d like. A maximum of 6 beers per person of legal age. No hard alcohol or mixed drinks are permitted on a fishing trip.
-
Our galley offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches including hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages.
-
It is good to dress in layers and keep in mind that sometimes the air is cooler on the water than it is on land. We recommend a brimmed hat and sunscreen. If it looks like rain, we recommend a poncho. You could also bring a rag to keep your hands clean.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOAT
-
Yes, of course, there are individual restrooms for men and women on board the boat for your convenience.
-
We allow one-rod holder per customer. Extra rods can be stored on the overhead where you are fishing. Coolers can be stowed underneath the benches.
-
Due to varying high and low tides, weather conditions and boat layout the Gambler may not be suitable for all handicap individuals. Please call us for more information, it may be advisable to stop by our boat in person before booking a trip.
-
Yes, we have life jackets on board, but they are for emergency purposes only (you are not required to wear them during the trip).
-
If you are unsure about your sea legs, you can take Dramamine or other medicine –follow directions precisely. Be careful not to eat overly greasy food before the trip. One of the best preventatives that we have seen is the wristbands sold in most drug stores. Called Sea-Bands, you just simply wear them on your wrists and align pressure points as directed. No medicine involved here, no drowsiness or other side effects –and they really work!
-
Yes, there is free parking available right behind the boat.
-
Yes, smoking is allowed, but only on deck and not in the cabin.
-
Of course! Our crew works very hard to ensure that your trip is enjoyable, and gratuities are greatly appreciated.
